The cancellation policy:

A cancellation fee of half the session cost or £25 for the low cost sessions will be charged if

the appointment is not cancelled within 24 hours of the due time.

Two cancellations in a row will mean the termination of therapy. This is to

allow others on the waiting list to avail of therapy. It is possible to take a

break or a pause from therapy and this should be discussed beforehand.

What to expect

First contact will be through a phone call. During this time you can explain what you would like help with and if you have any further questions. I will also let you know at this stage if I think i can help you. You will be under no pressure to commit to therapy with myself.

Assessment

If you decide to start therapy with myself we will create a problem list of your issues and take some background information.

The first two sessions are about assessment and about then making goals which we can work towards together.

Therapy sessions

After the assessment stage we will start to try tasks at home and in session which are towards your goals.

The number of sessions will depend on the complexity of the anxiety and depression. This can vary from a few sessions to over 30 if needed. A lot of the time conditions such as anxiety and depression are interlinked. The most prominent need will be addressed first. This is best done on a weekly basis first before then spacing these sessions out. Usually the people that embrace the CBT process doing home tasks, reading around the topic and trying out the behavioural experiments get the most out of CBT.
